What the F*** was I thinking?

Well, I am writing this post as I lay flat down in bed, where i have been all day. From the last post you can see that my son is enjoying his Jiu Jitsu class. Well after a week of watching him I decided to join the adult class. I thought to myself "man i can learn how to do this, get in shape, quit smoking, and learn some killer Jiu Jitsu moves all at the same time.

Well lets just say, last Thursday I learned that I am way to old for this. As we were practicing a move, that's right just practicing. I rolled someone over out of guard. As I rolled him my ribs landed straight on his knee. I heard something pop. Man i could not believe it. Well i decided to try the move once again and I could not do it because of the pain. So i decided to leave. Well once I made it home, I curled up on the living room floor in agonizing pain.

I had no idea what was going on. Long story short. My wife bless her heart also had no idea what was going on. So she called 911. I got the lovely pleasure of riding in an ambulance to the ER. After a cat scan and xray it was found I had 3 bruised ribs. So they pumped me up with some pain medicine and gave me a script and sent me on my way.

I seemed to be ok through the weekend. As long as I took my pain meds.

Then last night happened. I went to the store, when i came home I was hit with the most excruciating pain I have ever had in my entire life. I landed up on all fours face down in the front yard not being able to move.

So once again I got an ambulance ride to the hospital ER. They once again did xrays pumped me up with pain meds and muscle relaxers. It was discovered that I has having back spasms due to the bruised ribs. So they sent me home with scripts for pain killers and muscle relaxers and sent to my bed for the next 3 days.

So long story short, back spasms suck!! Big time. Worst pain you will feel. Second, don't do something that is meant for young kids and teens when you are over the age of 30. I will stick to going to the gym when i get back on my feet and stay away from the full contact activities.

So you can laugh at me or feel bad at me, whichever you wish. I just know that there is no more Jiu Jitsu for me. I will live vicariously through my son and let him have the fun Stay tuned, I think my wife has a picture of me in the ER. Will post it soon.

Brazillian Jiu Jitsu

Ok well, when we first signed Joshua up for this class, we did not know what to expect. We wanted him to learn discipline and self control. Well he started his Jiu Jitsu class this past Monday. Lets just say he is loving every minute of it. I just have to keep reminding him that he only does his moves in class or to his dad. Not to his friends at school or to his little sister. Well that may have been a mistake also. Last night after his mom brought him to his class he had to come home and show me the new choke hold he learned. Lets just say that I never knew a 4 year old could make a grown man tap out.

The cool thing, is I should be starting to take the class pretty soon also. Can't wait. For now enjoy the pics. If you want to know more, his instructors name is Darrin Desalvo with Cyclone Brazillian Jiu Jitsu of Luling. This guy knows his stuff.

The one in blue is one of the instructors sons. He is a 10 year old Orange belt, who makes 16 year olds tap out. Amazing!!

These 2 little guys are amazing to watch. They are both under the age of 4 and they have been in training for 2.5 months. They spar every night at training and they are great. They run full speed at each other and then start the wrestling.

And last, here is Joshua putting a bigger kid in a choke hold. It was awsome to watch.

Much gratitude to the instructors at Cyclone. They really know what they are doing and are beyond safe. They work with the kids great.

The attention span of a 4 year old

Just this past Sat. my son Joshua had his first T Ball game. It was great. You really get to see the attention span of a 4 year old. He is having fun though, and that is all that matters. Halloween 09

Yeah I know once again, majorly late on this post. Just trying to play catch up. Every year my brother has a Halloween blow out. I think it is more for the adults than the kids. These are some of the pics from the night. Yeah I know we are geeks. My son decided what we were going to be this year.

In November, I took my son to our hunting camp. Man was it fun. We spent the night at the camp and took a boat ride the next day to show my son where we hunted ducks at. I am an avid duck hunter and I cant wait till my son is old enough to go out to the blind with us to get some ducks. Until then he just loves going back to the camp. He keeps asking when are we going back. It cant come soon enough for him. Till next time. Enjoy!

The Mire Kids

Well, last Thursday I went to a one day conference/training session on Adobe Creative Suites. I have been using this suite for a while now, but wanted to see if there were any hidden Easter eggs as they call them that I have not found yet. And yes there were. I wont go into details here, just because it would take to long.

I am writing this post to let everyone know of two wealth of knowledge that I gained. I gained much more than these two, but these are pretty cool.

1. Adobe CS5 will be coming out sometime in mid April. Woo hoo. I was just about to upgrade to CS4 but I am going to wait until CS5. And from what the trainer told us, there will be a lot of good upgrades. Especially in photoshop. Cant wait!!!

2. The trainer gave us a bunch of good resource links. But the one I have used so far is dealram.com. She said that they had the best deals on all memory. And by far they do. I just ordered some ram for my laptop. Cant wait to see if it works and how well. I will let you know how it works. The cool thing is that you can search by computer. But don't despair. If they don't have your computer listed. You can search my memory type. Not everyone knows what type of memory they have. Just put make and model in google and search for memory and it should tell you.

Same Ole, Same Ole

You ever notice, every morning when you see someone you always see, they ask how you are doing. Well normally my response is "Same Ole, Same Ole." Nothing seems to change. Maybe I am just stuck in a rut or something. Just seems like the same ole routine every day. Man, I really need to get some excitement in my life.

My mornings always seem to be the same.

1. Wake up late (As usual). I am not a morning person.
2. Smoke a cigarette.
3. Get my son some sort of breakfast. Usually it is either Fruit Loops or Waffles. God forbid if we are out of one of those. This pretty much determines how the morning is going to go.
4. Warm a bottle up for the little princess.
5. Hand bottle over to my wife to give the princess her bottle.
6. Take a shower.
7. Get dressed.
8. If my son has not gotten dressed for school yet, listen to him complain how he needs help.
9. One of two things will happen. Either my son will throw a fit because he cannot get dressed by himself, then he will get sent to his room, because he is doing nothing but complaining or he will be dressed and everything will go smoothly.
10. Give wife and daughter kisses.
11. Get myself and son in the car to go to school and work.
12. Wait in line to drop my son off to school.
13. Drop son off at school.
14. Drive to work.
15. Stop at the awesome P.J.s to get coffee. (One of the things I do look forward to in the morning.)
16. Arrive at work and begin my fun filled day of my full time job.

So now you have an idea of what my mornings consist of. If you even care.

So long story short, I am stuck in a rut. The next post I will be discussing why I have not posted any photos in a while.

Well, I really have no idea how long it has been since I have posted anything. Quite frankly, not really sure who even reads this thing. But anyway. This is how it is going to go. I just got my wife a new laptop for her job. So I now have a laptop. Woo hoo. Meaning I can blog while watching TV. Some days I just dont feel like going into the office to blog. So now I can sit back in my comfortable chair in the living room and blog using the new laptop. Well it is second hand, but it is a laptop. Well the baby is crying now, have to go give her a bottle.

Last weekend I had a bridal shoot for a wedding I have this upcoming weekend. I hope to have pictures posted by the end of this week from that shoot. We shot in the French Quarter in New Orleans LA. It was fun.

Thanks to Joe for coming with me to shoot. Even though we got harassed for shooting in what we thought was a public place we got some great shots. Joe got some great in action shots of me, which I have never had before. So here they are.

I also wanted to give big props to my wonderful wife for coming out once again and making the brides feel comfortable and beautiful. She is a special person to me in my life and my company. She has been one of the pushing forces behind Kennyn Productions Photoraphy. I love her so much.

P.S. - Baby good luck this week! I will be there with you through every step.

Where have I been??

Some days I don't even know the answer to that. When I first started this blog I had all intentions on posting every day. Well lets just say that "Life" happened. It has been way to long since I have posted anything here on my blog. The truth of the matter is, I can barely find time to breathe, so I am having a hard time to blog.

What has been going on lately, basically is family. I am trying to balance my job, family and my photography company. Not much has been happening on the photography side lately. I did a bridal shoot recently and have a wedding to shoot next weekend. As soon as I have pics edited from those, lets just say I hope to post some.

To be truthful I am not even sure who even reads this, but I guess if anyone does it would be good to update.

So if you are one of my few readers, please hang in there. I hope to get photos posted soon. Some may be out of date as far as the event, but I may not have posted them yet.

New Orleans Cathedral HDR

Once again after many weeks of non posting I am on a roll. Yesterday myself and fellow photographer Alan Fontenot ventured out into the great city of New Orleans for some shooting. I have many shots of the Cathedral downtown but I have never done a HDR. So here is my first. Enjoy.

Well it has sure been a bit since I posted aything. Lets just say I have been majorly busy. A 4 month old and a 3 year old can do that to a person. Well yesterday the women of the house went out to watch the season finale of Grey's, so it was just the fellas at home. Go figure that my son is already fasinated by superheroes. I think I may have had something to do with that. I wanted to try out some new strobist techniques, so my wife and I made him his first batman costume and we went out back to shoot some shots. Trying to get a 3 year old to stay still was fun to say the least. We had a pretty good time for the little while it lasted. Here are 3 of my favorites from the shoot.

The setup was:

Canon 40 D - Tripoded in center front

1 Flash - Full power, back left of subject about 10 o clock

1 Flash - Full power, front right of subject about 4 o clock

The "J" Girls

I recently had the great pleasure of shooting one of my best friends daughters. These two girls were great. I hardly had to do anything except point the camera and shoot. They were actually giving us ideas on poses and props. The youngest of the 2 always had a great smile on her face, but the oldest seemed so serious. We occasionally got some smiles out of her. But we love the way she was so serious. She was the oldest and she showed it. Great job girls.

Hey Fightin' Tigers!

Well yes it is hard to believe that my son turns 3 this month. I will give you a little background behind this post. I graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 2000. I love watching LSU on TV play football or baseball. So I have started my son young. He now watches the games with me on TV and yells out "GO LSU!" It is so awesome.

So one day I decided to start singing the LSU fight song (Hey Fightin' Tigers) in the truck with him in the back seat. Needless to say after about a month or so he caught on. He now knows every word and sings it great. I am a proud papa.

So his birthday is coming up and we asked him what kind of birthday he wanted. We figured he would say Thomas the Train, or Sponge Bob, but nope. He said "Hey Fightin' Tigers!" It is going to be awesome.

So it came down to designing the birthday party invites to send out. Needless to say, I had a blast doing this. It started as my wife's idea, I just made it come to life. We decided to design a mock football ticket with all of the party information on it. So of course I had to take pictures. So below are the pictures I took of him in his LSU football uniform. He was so funny. He would not take off those gloves. It looks even better that they are mismatched. But it was his choice. Well it has been 2 weeks today since my new little pricess has arrived. What a blessing. We are so joyed and tired at the same time. Well 2008 is coming to a close in a couple of days, so I am just trying to get things closed out with all of my clients. It has been a great year. I have learned alot and built my business up quickly. I can't wait for 2009. I think it is going to be a great year.

This is a shoot I had about a month ago and I am just now getting to post some of my favorites. Sorry for the delay, but been in construction mode at the house due to my new daughter coming any day now.

These are the Mire kids. They are a great bunch of kids. It started out just being a shoot for little sarah, but I decided to shoot both of the kids since their parents are good friends of mine. Enjoy.

Growning Up Too Too Fast!

Man how does time fly. This is my Little Man Joshua. It is hard to believe that he will be 3 in Feb. And he is also going to be a big brother. He is going to be such an awsome big brother.

We also got him his first digital camera for Christmas this year. We gave it to him early so he could take pictures during Christmas parties. It is pretty funny, he follows me around and takes pictures of everything that I take. The only funny thing is that you have to actually get down and put yourself in the shot, he doesnt quite know how to aim yet.

He brings joy to our lives every day. We are so blessed to have him in our lives. Enjoy!

Equipment: Beauty Dish

I have recently started to get more and more into the lighting of my studio for portraits. I came accross this flash accessory called a "Beauty Dish". They are pretty expensive so I decided to make my own. Yeah I know it looks pretty ghetto but it works. That is all im looking for. I found some DIY forums on how to make it. I finished last night and so far I love it. It takes your everyday external flash and dispurses the light evenly accross the subject. So far the only picture I took with it is one of my cat, Mossimo. He is a great subject. Just thought I would share some pictures of the finished product. Don't laugh, like I said it works.

Mire Wedding

I recently had the great pleasure of shooting a wonderful couples wedding package. I shot their engagment portraits, bridals and the wedding. They were wonderful with the whole thing. Their names are Brant and Jenna. They were great. I hardly had to work hard at positioning them and telling them what to do. They were so natural at it.

I have been shooting photos now for about 10 years, but this is only my third wedding I have shot. I have to tell you, that so far this is my favorite and probably the best wedding I have shot.

Skylar’s Shoot

I recently had the pleasure of shooting a totally adorable little girl. Her name was Skylar. Long story short, a friend of the family’s daughter. (Hope ya got that.) It was a great shoot. I love shooting small children because you dont have to tell them what to do, you just get them in their element.

Her parents were great. Thanks to Sheena and her husband for helping out so much that day. Since they were there we decided to get some family shots also. They all came out great but I believe that my favorite was the one we shot in the studio.

Hyde 1 Year Anniversary Portraits

Her and her husband were probably the best subjects I have had so far for a portrait session. They were naturals at it. I hardly had to tell them what to do.
